ESTAGIAR + is aimed at young people with qualifications equal to or less than level III of the NQF, registered in the CQE for more than three months, when they are looking for their first job, or young people who have been unemployed for more than six months, when they are looking for a new job.

Young people aged 30 or under on the date of submission of the application are eligible.

What I need

    The promoting entities make their application on the empregojovem.azores.gov.pt website, upon presentation of the following documents, under penalty of exclusion from analysis of the application:

    • Identification Data of the selected young people;
    • Declaration of Commitment of Honour that the candidate does not provide, nor has provided, in any capacity, service in the promoting entity;
    • Document proving the regularized situation before the Tax Administration and Social Security.

    Young candidates apply on the empregojovem.azores.gov.pt website by submitting the following documents:

    • Citizen Card (not applicable whenever registered on the website empregojovem.azores.gov.pt through the Digital Mobile Key);
    • Proof of Bank Identification Number;
    • Photocopy of the Certificate of Academic Qualifications.

Service cost

    Free of charge. 

Carry out the service at a RIAC store

When to do

    • Application period: from August 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024.
    • Period for the start of internships: from September 1, 2023 to April 30, 2024.

    The application period takes place simultaneously for young people and for the promoting entities.

  • Youth Employment Portal;
  • Regional Directorate for Professional Qualification and Employment;
  • Agencies for Qualification and Employment of Ponta Delgada, Angra do Heroísmo and Horta.

Duration of the internship

The internships of the ESTAGIAR + program have a duration of 12 months, including one month of rest to be taken during the 12th month of internship.

They may be extended in private employers, under the following terms:

  • On the islands of São Miguel, Terceira and Faial for another three months;
  • On the islands of Santa Maria, São Jorge, Pico, Graciosa, Flores and Corvo, for another six months.

In Public Administration entities, internships can be extended for another 3 months, regardless of the island on which they are carried out.

The internships take place with a maximum weekly schedule of 35 hours, at the same time as that practiced by the promoting entity.

Monetary Compensation

ESTAGIAR + provides for a monthly cash compensation in the amount of the minimum guaranteed remuneration of the Autonomous Regional of the Azores, that is, €740.25.

Social security

Trainees in the programme are now covered by the general social security scheme for employees.

Training

Private entities that promote the certified training of young people, during the internship period, are awarded compensation, under the following terms:

  • In the case of training with a minimum duration of 150 hours, an amount corresponding to 12% of the monthly monetary compensation, for the duration of the internship;
  • In the case of training lasting 300 or more hours, an amount corresponding to 23.75% of the monthly monetary compensation, for the duration of the internship.
