Regional Hunter’s Licence – Exam Registration Deadline

The registration period for the regional hunter’s licence exam closes on 12 April. Registration can be completed at any RIAC Shop. The exam will take place on 13 May.

The regional hunter’s licence is a document issued by the Regional Directorate for Forest Resources that authorizes hunting in the Autonomous Region of the Azores.
To ensure sustainable resource management, it is essential that hunters understand their active role in the Region’s hunting policy.

Therefore, the exam is mandatory and consists of a theoretical written test lasting 30 minutes. It is composed of twenty multiple‑choice questions covering regional hunting legislation, the Legal Framework of Weapons and Ammunition, requirements for hunting and their constraints, game species, safety rules, signage, hunting methods and means. The practice of hunting requires strict compliance with these rules.

To register, an identification document and taxpayer number are required. For minors aged 16 or over, an identification document and written authorization from their legal representative, with a duly certified signature, are required.
Non‑resident citizens must present a document proving residence abroad.

Exceptionally, an oral exam may be taken, in which case a declaration from an entity competent in education matters must be presented.
