Check your driving license points at RIAC Shops
The Road Traffic Offenses Portal, managed by the National Road Safety Authority (ANSR), is the official channel for consulting and managing driver infringement processes.
To ensure access to this essential information, you can visit RIAC Shops to check your traffic offense records, infringement history (record), driving license points, and obtain the RIC certificate (Individual Driver Record). To do so, you will need your Digital Mobile Key (CMD) or you must present your Citizen Card and its respective authentication code.
The penalty points system is designed to reward good conduct on the road. Each driver is assigned an initial balance of 12 points. After 3 years without any serious or very serious offenses, or road crimes, the driver receives 3 extra points, up to a maximum limit of 15 points.
On the other hand, 2 points are deducted for a Serious Offense, which can increase to 3 points in aggravated cases, such as driving under the influence of alcohol or speeding in shared zones. For a Very Serious Offense, 4 points are lost. In more severe situations, such as high blood alcohol levels or the use of psychotropic substances, the penalty is 5 points. A Road Crime results in the loss of 6 points.
Regardless of the loss of points, the ancillary sanction of temporary driving disqualification remains applicable; therefore, you will have to surrender your driving license to serve that sanction.
As your point balance decreases, specific measures are triggered: if you have 4 or 5 points, you are required to attend a Road Safety Training Course; if you have fewer than 4 points, you must retake the Theory Test of the Driving Exam; and if you exhaust all points, your Driving License is revoked, and you are barred from obtaining a new one for two years.
If you have held a driving license for less than 3 years (probationary period), committing two serious offenses or one very serious offense will result in the cancellation of your driving license.
The points system depends on your conduct behind the wheel, and the best reward is safety on the roads. Drive responsibly and contribute to everyone's safety.
